Why Podcast Show Notes Matter

Episode descriptions are the closest thing podcasts have to a table of contents, and they are worth reading before you press play.

A good description usually includes the topic, the guests or sources mentioned, chapter markers or links to further reading, and a one-sentence summary of the episode's argument.

Reading show notes also saves time. A ten-minute daily briefing and a two-hour interview can cover the same subject, but the notes tell you which one fits your morning.

Descriptions are written by the show's team specifically to help listeners decide, which is why episode listings on this site include them alongside the publication date and duration.
